What are inductors?
Inductors, also called reactor chokes, are passive electrical components made by wounded coils, which can resist sudden changes in current and are widely used in filtering electrical signals.
What are molding inductors?
Molding inductors are one type of inductors that are constructed by molded casing around the coil to provide enhanced protection, stability, and compactness. These hot press molded inductors are designed for power applications.
Molding inductor Advantages
• Low profile
The molding process reduces size, allowing for more efficient use of space. And the molded power inductors can still achieve greater inductance and current.
• One-piece molded inductor
The shielding method adopts metal forming, which is an electromagnetic shielding structure and a composite structure. Compared with non-encapsulated shielded inductors and ferrite shielded inductors, the shielding effect of molding inductors is better.
• Improved Performance
The inductance ranges from 0.047uH to 150uH, the operating temperature can reach up to 155℃, and the current can reach up to 120A.
• Less self-induced electromagnetic interference
The molding process can reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI), enhance thermal management, and improve the overall efficiency of the inductor.
• Various kinds
Mentech offers various types and sizes of molding inductors, new T-Core designed hot press molding inductors, and Vehicle grade products.
Introduction: Mentech molded inductors
Mentech offers 2 main types of molded power inductors - MHA (iron-silicon-chromium alloy powder) series and MHC (carbonyl iron powder) series, according to used magnetic materials. They both have the characteristics of small size, the ability to handle unsaturated transient current peaks, magnetic shielding structure, composite structure, and ultra-low noise. The difference is that the MHA series has low DCR and high LRMs., while the MHC series has high current capability.
In order to meet the higher reliability requirements of automotive products, Mentech has also launched the MHAF automotive integrated molded inductor series, which can meet the AECQ200 certification test. Contact us for more details.
